coastal kids intern

Coastal Kids is looking to bring on some children's ministry interns and that may include you! If you are someone who has a passion for working with young children (birth to 5th grade), has the energy and patience to do so, and enjoys working as a team, keep reading! Our children's ministry interns will have the opportunity to serve with a fun, dedicated team as we provide a safe and nurturing environment for young children to learn about God's love. This internship will allow you to not only be creative and enthusiastic, but to also explore your God given gifts and continue to develop your relationship with Jesus. So, if you are ready to be a part of several learning opportunities as you engage with young children and their families, apply below!


Weekly Intern Hours

Meeting - Wednesdays 2:30pm - 4:30pm

Serving - Wednesdays 6pm - 8pm

                 Sundays 8:30am - 12:30pm


Dwell Intern (middle school)

What is Dwell? - Dwell is the Middle School Ministry of Wrightsville Beach Baptist Church. Dwell exists to reach, love, and serve Middle School students so that they would become thriving followers of Jesus who lead, serve, and flourish in community.

Dwell (Large Group) - Wednesdays 5:15 - 7:30 PM - Dwell meets as a large group once a week. During this time students eat dinner together, embark on wild adventures, play a bunch of action packed games, worship through song, and spend time in God’s word. Dwell is energetic, joyful, action packed, fast paced, and is designed for students to experience that life with Jesus in community is FUN!

Middle School Outreach - Once a week, Dwell leaders bring pizza to a local middle school during lunch. This time is designed to connect with students, build relationships, share the Gospel, and love students right where they are. The ultimate vision of this outreach is that relationships would be formed which lead to long term discipleship. This is a flexible time that interns would be encouraged to attend.

Relational Ministry - During the week, Dwell leaders are encouraged to make at least one point of contact with a student or group of students. This could look like grabbing lunch, going surfing, getting ice cream, going to an athletic event, or attending an extracurricular activity. Relationship building is fun, awesome, rewarding, and an essential aspect of Dwell’s mission. Interns would be asked to attend either one in school outreach or one relational ministry event each week.

Hang Time Intern (high school)

What is Hangtime? - Hangtime is the High School Ministry of Wrightsville Beach Baptist Church. Hangtime exists to grow, engage, and sustain spiritually healthy followers of Jesus in a High School context. This is accomplished by engaging students in a variety of ways.

Hangtime (Large Group) - Sundays 4:00 - 6:00 PM - Hangtime meets as a large group once a week. During this time we hang out, catch up, play ping pong, get competitive in crazy games, spend time worshipping Jesus, hear a message, and break out into small groups. We also have a long standing tradition of grabbing tacos from Islands after! This is our time to come together as a family and worship Jesus.

High School Outreach - During the week, Hangtime leaders go to local High Schools to bring lunch, hang out, and build relationships with students. This is a flexible time that interns would be encouraged to attend.

Small Group Discipleship - Hangtime students meet once a week in smaller groups (guys and girls) for Bible study. This looks like breakfast before school, going to play putt putt, catching a movie, grabbing ice cream, meeting at homes, and engaging in active discipleship. This is a flexible time that is a huge part of discipleship in Hangtime.

Gather intern (18-25)

According to a recent study, 96% of college students have no relationship with Jesus. UNCW has over 18000 people coming through their campus every four years. A small city of people that are in desperate need of Jesus rotate through UNCW and are looking for identity and purpose. This is your chance, as God leads, to join in Jesus’s mission to reach college students UNCW’s campus. Roles could include being the first Jesus loving face someone sees through host team, leading a small group, leading Gather’s campus organization that allows us to meet on campus, and spurring action in outreach and evangelism, and so much more!


Expectations:

1. You have a relationship with Jesus!

2. You are willing to serve and commit 5-10 hours of your week!

3. You have a heart for young adults!

tech/production intern

Our production team is looking to grow! As an intern on our team you will be a part of facilitating worship services here in the building and online. We are constantly looking to improve our sound, lights, and video to improve the experience during worship and would love for you to be a part of that. If you have a desire to learn and work as part of a team we would love to have you!

Hours Serving:

 - Wednesdays 5-8 pm

 - Sundays 8:30am-12:30 pm

 - Flexible hours during the week to work behind the scenes

Hours Meeting:

 - Flexible, can meet virtually to work with schedules.


social media intern

Do you have a creative mind and desire to use that mind to further the Kingdom? Our social media, websites, podcast, and other online platforms are crucial to outreach and we would love to have you be a part of it! A big plus would be photography/videography, photo/video editing, graphic design, and social media experience.

Hours Serving:

Very flexible. Availability Sundays 9am-12pm and Wednesdays 5pm-7pm and during special events for taking photos/videos.

Hours Meeting:

Also flexible. Can meet virtually or in person to work with scheduling.

worship intern

The ideal candidate for the Worship Ministry Intern is someone who is passionate about Jesus and music, eager to grow as a worship leader or creative artist, and excited to serve the local church. Interns will have the opportunity to work alongside the Director of Music and a multi-generational worship team to help create engaging, Christ-centered worship experiences. We’re looking for individuals who are teachable, dependable, and willing to try new things. Whether you're a vocalist, instrumentalist, songwriter, or tech-savvy creative, this internship will stretch your skills and help you grow spiritually, musically, and relationally as you learn what it means to lead worship with authenticity and excellence.


Weekly Intern Hours:

  -  Wednesdays – EITHER 10:00am-12:00pm OR 3:30pm–5:30pm (Creative Planning & Worship Rehearsal)

        -  Wednesdays – 6:30pm–7:30pm (optional Choir Rehearsal to learn conducting and rehearsal techniques)

        -  Wednesdays – 7:30pm–8:30pm (Worship Rehearsal)

        -  Sundays – 10:00am–11:00am (Worship Rehearsal)

  -  Sundays – 1:30pm–3:30pm (Music Theory, Writing, and Music Understanding)

Total: 5-7 hours/week


Intern Roles:

Worship Leader Development Intern: This intern will focus on the heart and skill of leading worship. They will receive hands-on coaching in vocal technique, stage presence, spiritual leadership, and service planning. Opportunities to lead in Sunday services and other events will be offered as readiness grows.

Music & Band Intern:
This intern will focus on musicianship and band dynamics, helping with arranging, rehearsal direction, and supporting instrumentalists. A great fit for someone who plays an instrument and wants to grow as a band leader. They will learn basic music theory, the chord number system, scales, and basic rhythms.


Each intern will also participate in:

 • Spiritual formation time (Bible study, prayer, reflection)

 • Hands-on experience in weekly services and planning

Do you love people? Are you passionate about helping folks feel seen, known, heard, and connected? Then the campus host team is the place for you! As a host team intern, you will practice sharing the love of Jesus through a welcoming presence and greeting people, and you will learn valuable skills such as interpersonal communication, coordinating, scheduling, and caring for people!

 

Weekly intern hours:

 - Sundays 8:30am-12:30pm (rotate serving with attending church, or both each week)

 - Wednesdays 5pm-7:30pm

 - Flexible hours during the week for coordinating responsibilities

In the office at Wrightsville Beach Baptist, you'll learn what takes place behind the scenes in an active, thriving church! Valuable administrative skills such as interpersonal communication, time management, and creativity will be practiced while you learn what it's like to honor Jesus while operating in an office setting.
